The ATF Team Wins The Inaugural Nitto Tire NMRA / NMCA All Star Nationals!

The Silver Bullet took the top qualifier spot and stayed on top for the win. Jim Blair's qualifying run of 6.844 @ 202.91 is another class record that he has set. That pass was made in 100+ degree heat and with a less than ideal track surface. Streetlegaltv.com reported, "Super Street was struggling during the heat of first round with no 6 second passes from the class, though this was eclipsed in the second round. Current number one qualifier Jim Blair attributes his number one qualifying position to his ability to feel the tricky zMax track during his passes. Jim ran a solid 6.844 @ 202.91 mph. The only other peer to break the 6-second barrier is current number two qualifier Tony Nesbitt with a 6.895 @ 200.35 mph." Blair and Nesbitt went on to face each other in the final... "It was an odd one in Super Street. As the lights went green, Jim Blair stayed still. By 60 feet, Tony Nesbitt's Corvette had made a loud pop that was followed by metal fragments on the track. Since Blair's Mustang didn't come up on the trans-brake, he gave up, that was until he saw what happened to Nesbitt. In an effort to catch the rolling Corvette, Blair stabbed the Procharged Mustang and despite a hairy drive, ended up surpassing Nesbitt for the win. Jim's reaction time -- 2.901."

The ATF Team Wins The 4th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA / NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing!

Jim Blair and the ATF crew worked tirelessly leading up to and during the race to bring home the win. The ATF Team drove 2,800 miles (round trip) from ATF headquarters in Davie, FL to Route 66 Dragway in Joilet, IL to compete at this prestigious event. This victory extends Blair's lead in the points standings going into the next event in Charlotte, NC August 6-9. Jim credits the hard work and dedication of The ATF Team. ATF Crew Chief Jason Gatlin and The ATF Crew Mechanics, David Chaples and Daniel Fernandez help Jim keep The Silver Bullet ahead of the herd.

The NMCA's event recap stated, "In Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W nine outlaws showed up to do battle, but former class champion Jim Blair was the one who came out on top. After taking out Jill Hicks with an incredible 6.80 run, Blair went on to beat Tony Nesbitt with a 6.94 run. In the semis Blair was set to face Mike Yedgarian, but when the tree came down Yedgarian went red by -.008 as Blair nailed a .013 and posted a 7.15. Frank Mewshaw, who had been running well on his side of the ladder, was supposed to face Blair for the final, but couldn’t make the call, handing the win to the former class champion."

The season opener in Bradenton, FL (March 27-29) was an amazing event where Outlaw 10.5 racer, our very own Jim Blair, earned the win (read more). With the 2nd race at Bowling Green, KY (May 1-3) officially rained out, the ATF team is looking forward to the next NMCA race event at Reading, PA (June 5-7). With the Silver Bullet locked and loaded for competition, the ATF team will make 1,200 mile (each way) the long haul from our headquarters in Davie, FL to the legendary Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA. We are looking forward to demonstrating the full power of the Silver Bullet and with some new weaponry on board, the competition better be packin'.

From NMCA's website: "We regret to inform you that the Eighth Annual NOS/NMCA Hot Rod & Muscle Car Nationals originally scheduled for May 1-3, 2009 at Beech Bend Raceway has been cancelled. The recent rainout coupled with very aggressive Beech Bend Raceway, NMRA and NMCA schedules make it virtually impossible for the NMCA to return to Beech Bend Raceway and finalize this event in a reasonable time frame. The Beech Bend event will not be contested however, tech and bonus points will be awarded to all registered competitors who attended the event."
